Students Learn about Public Health– “On the Square”

Despite the rain and overcast skies, Public Health on the Square at BYU, part of National Public Health Week April 6-10th, was a HUGE success.

We served 2400 slices of pizza and 240 pounds of fruit; gave away 400 shirts; received 425 entries for an iPod drawing; and talked at least a thousand students about public health. To get a t-shirt and have his or herĀ  name entered into a drawing for the iPod a student had to have a photo taken with people in fruit costumes, talk to a Health Science professor or volunteer about public health and visit one of the tables to learn about the public health major tracks.

All this was possible thanks to months and months of planning by Stephanie Raleigh, Katrina Fulkerson, Catherine Copeland and Cami Rooney, and hours of volunteering that day by other BYU public health students. Thank you to everyone who helped that day!
