Graduate School– Health Administration

Are you thinking about going to graduate school? Although you can definitely get a job with a bachelor’s degree (just ask Julia Shumway, Rebecca Castelton, Rachel Cardon, Macree Mortensen, and others) a graduate degree opens more doors for you. The degree you pursue in graduate school depends on your interests. If you want to work in public health, then a Master of Public Health (MPH) is the most marketable degree.

However, if you are interested in other specialty areas, other degrees may be more appropriate. For example, if you want to work in health administration a Master of Health Administration (MHA) may be the best route to go. There is a program at Virginia Commonwealth University that is looking to attract more applicants from Utah. You can read more about their program by clicking this link– 1 Page MHA Flyer.  The program states:

“The Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree prepares management leaders for the health care industry. Ranked fourth among health administration programs by U.S. News & World Report, the VCU Graduate Program in Health Administration program is an “industry specific” master’s program — with means you will have rigorous business and management training while learning about the uniqueness of the health care industry.”

If you are interested in improving your application for a future job or graduate school then consider taking Student Development (STDV) 317 section 3 fall semester. This 2 credit class is specifically designed for Health Science students. It meets on Wednesday from 4-5:40.
