The BYU Master of Public Health Program (MPH) just received noticed that it was granted accreditation from the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). This approval includes a seven-year accreditation term, the longest time period for which a program may be accredited.
The accreditation process required Health Science faculty, lead by MPH Director, Dr. Michael Barnes, to write a lengthy self-study document and present it to a team of three outside peer-reviewers. This review team then visited BYU and interviewed faculty, students, staff, administrators, alumni and public health partners.
There are several benefits of accreditation. In sum, accreditation “attests to the quality of an educational program that prepares for entry into a recognized profession.”
The BYU MPH program was created in 2002 and has been accredited since 2005. To learn more about the BYU MPH Program visit http://mph.byu.edu
