Dr. Carl Hanson has been appointed the new director of the BYU MPH Program. This appointment is the last in a series of changes that was started when Dr. Brad Neiger, former department
chair, was appointed as an associate dean in the College of Life Sciences. Dr. Mike Barnes, former MPH director, was appointed to replace Dr. Neiger as department chair leaving an opening for an MPH director.
Dr. Hanson has five years of experience teaching at Brigham Young University in both the undergraduate and graduate levels. At Montana State University- Billings he spent 11 years teaching health and physical education. There he also served as department chair of Health and Human Performance and was the founding dean of a new college of Allied Health Professions. Dr. Hanson received a doctorate in community health education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and his bachelors and masters degree from BYU. He and his wife Loraine have 4 children and reside in Spanish Fork, Utah.
