HELP International Volunteer Opportunity

HELP International is searching for volunteers to travel abroad in fulfilling its mission of empowering people to fight global poverty through life-changing, sustainable development programs. For Public Health majors, this may fulfill the Internship requirement necessary for the Health Promotion track (and is recommended for all other tracks). Here are additional reasons to volunteer:

Get hands-on experience in your field while traveling internationally
Build your resume and get university credit
Community development, business consulting, public health projects, and more!
Choose between a number of countries including Tanzania, India, El Salvador, and a number of other countries

When: Thursday, February 3

Time: 7:00-8:00pm

Provo Science Palooza

On March 12, Provo Parks and Recreation is putting on an event called
Kid*s Science Palooza. It is a fun opportunity to teach kids the fun
of science. We will have a wide variety of experiments, demonstrations,
and activities for kids of all ages. We will have more than 20 stations,
all with different science activities.

In the past, we have had some BYU science clubs come participate at
this fun event. We have a need for your enthusiasm about science to help
teach and excite the kids. We will need both volunteers to help run our
booths, as well as groups to bring your own activities, demonstrations,
or experiment. We highly encourage any club that is interested to plan a
demonstration or experiment representing your subject area of expertise.

The Science Palooza will be on Saturday, March 12, 2011. The event will
be from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm and volunteers must arrive by 11:00 am. It
will be located at The Center (222W 500 N) on the northwest corner of
Freedom Blvd (200 W) and 500 N.

If this is something that interests your department, please let us know
and we can work with you to decide in what way you can contribute the
most. Please send this information to all students in your department to
help get the word out. Any interested students and faculty can contact

Utah Public Health Association Student Caucus

The Utah Public Health Association (UPHA) Student Caucus has planned an event for students at the Salt Lake Valley Health Department. There will be a presentation of the different positions at the department and an explanation of what the local health departments do. It will be a fairly informal meeting and discussion, including Q&A, information about positions and internships, and expertise to connect you with departments that you are interested to learn more about.

This event will be held at the Salt Lake Valley Health Department on Jan 25th from 2 – 3:30 pm at the Salt Lake County Government Center, 2001 South State Street in Salt Lake City, S2400 conference room (Salt Lake Valley Health Departments main offices).
