Focus Group Participation Request

The Life Science Student Council will be hosting a focus group to receive student input for the new building that will include classrooms and offices in the MARB, WIDB, RB, & SFH. In essence, the new building will combine the entire Life Science college and Health Science will have a presence. The requests and ideas taken from the focus group will be given to the architects for the new building. The building is scheduled to be completed Summer of 2013.

The new building will be built to last nearly 100 years; the Widsoe stood only 40. Who knows what kind of changes will occur in the next decade alone. No matter your current involvement in the college or the department your input is important because you are a student at BYU. You make more of a difference than you may realize! Focus groups date and time :

(Monday) Feb. 22, 2010 3pm-4pm in MARB 455

(Tuesday) Feb. 23, 2010 12pm-1pm in MARB 446

Utah County Emergency Preparation

Wednesday February 24 at 6 PM Utah County Emergency Preparation Leaders will be coming to BYU for an overview and discussion on Utah County’s disaster and first responder preparations. In attendance will be Orem Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief, Kevin Kemp; Lindon City Police Chief, Cody Cullimore; Utah County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Planner, Joanna Larsen; Red Cross Emergency Services Director, Brett Cross; Timpanogos Hospital Emergency Services Coordinator, Ruthann Jarvis; District Operations Manager for Waste Management, Brian Eberhard; Central Region Manager for Questar Gas, Larry Thorson; UCARES (Utah County Amateur Radio Emergency Service) / SCAT (Sheriff’s Communication Auxiliary Team) Coordinator and City Liaison, David Mair; Assistant Fire Chief, Provo Fire & Rescue, Gary Jolley. Come to meet these community leaders and learn about what preparations are in order for potential disasters and emergencies locally. It will be in room 267 RB.
