		<description><![CDATA[The Tobacco Prevention and Control Program (TPCP) at the Utah Department of Health uses comprehensive, evidence-based strategies to reduce tobacco use and tobacco-related disease and death in Utah. The Utah population has the lowest smoking rate in the nation and thus presents exciting challenges in this area. The TPCP currently has an opening for a marketing liaison.

Job Characteristics:

·        Oversee the Tobacco Prevention and Control Program&#039;s (TPCP) mass media and marketing efforts. 

·        Oversee the media contract; negotiate contract and related amendments, monitor and approve work plans and expenditure requests, process invoices.

·        Supervise creative development and media production.

·        Facilitate communication and coordination between media contractor and other TPCP partners.

·        Process Requests for Proposals when needed. 

·        Ensure marketing campaign is appropriately evaluated and research based; assist external evaluation contractor with media evaluation activities, ensure market research activities are conducted and results are used appropriately, analyze other similar campaigns that have been successful. 

·        Manage public information and public relations support for the TPCP.

·        Serve as TPCP spokesperson for media inquiries and interviews, oversee the development and implementation of TPCP&#039;s public relations plan.

·        Assist with developing and framing media messages for TPCP and its partners, coordinate TPCP Marketing Approval procedures.

·        Address public questions and concerns, prepare materials and communications representing TPCP&#039;s objectives and activities.

·        Serve as consultant to TPCP contractors in developing media campaigns, media events, and public relations efforts.]]></description>

Bureau of Health Promotion Internship Opportunity

What:We would like to hire a temporary, part-time intern to assist in administering the 2012 School Health Profiles Survey, a biennial statewide survey of junior high/high school administrators and teachers regarding health policies and curriculum. UDOH works closely with the Utah State Office of Education since 2002 to conduct this survey and data is used to direct interventions and evaluate programs within the Bureau of Health Promotion. Tasks for the intern will include organizing the mailing of the survey, following up as necessary, and communicating with the Center&#039;s for Disease Control. Expected period of employment is January through May 2012. Graduate student or upper-level undergrad preferred. Wage is $12-14/hour with an average of 20 hours/week for approximately 18 weeks
 
When: The internship will begin January 2012 and continue through the school year.

Where: Some work will have to be done in Salt Lake at the Utah Department of Health, and some could be done from home.
