Immediate Openings at Healthy Utah!

Healthy Utah, a wellness program for state employees, is seeking motivated, positive individuals with excellent people skills for part-time positions on our testing staff.

REQUIREMENTS Educational backgrounds in exercise and sport science, health education, and nutrition are preferred; however, bachelors or masters degrees are not required. Training and necessary certifications are provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES Testing staff members perform health screening tests, including: cholesterol, blood glucose, body composition, blood pressure, and a health consultation. Basic computer training and presentation skills are required.

HOURS From approximately 7:00 am-6:00 pm,
Monday-Thursday.
Must be able to work at least 2 days/week.
Some overnight travel (1-3 nights) is required.

SALARY Approximately $12.93 per hour (no benefits)

Positive work ethic (both individually and in a team)
Creativity and attention to detail
Longevity preferred
Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs.

PREVENTION SPECIALIST

Immediate opening for a full-time Prevention Specialist in our Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention Program.

  • Responsibilities include small group facilitation and teaching full classroom curricula in high-risk elementary and junior high schools, community centers, and low income housing sites.  May include in-home parent training, program development, program evaluation, and outreach.
  • Staff will expect to drive an average of 300 miles per month within Salt Lake Valley. A valid Utah driver’s license and proof of insurance and a reliable car are required.  Mileage reimbursement provided.
  • Applicants are required to pass drug screening and complete a Background.
  • Experience with diverse cultures and low income families and youth is needed.
  • Requires a master’s degree in a related field, current enrollment in a relevant graduate program, or bachelor’s degree with equivalent related work experience.

Bilingual preferred.

The salary range is from $32,000 to $35,000

depending on degree, licensure, and experience.

This individual is an active participant in the discharge planning process. The Follow-Up Specialist attempts to minimize recidivism by  ensuring that the patients discharged from inpatient care engage in the appropriate outpatient services. The Follow-Up Specialist acts
as a liaison by communicating timely and permissible information about discharge planning of clients with the staff of inpatient facilities, outpatient providers, patients, and Magellan clinical staff.

Job Title:                         Environmental Health Scientist

Description:                     May underfill as an Environmental Health Technician. Oversees and conducts sanitation inspections of eating establishments, commercial facilities, and public buildings; Oversees and inspects sewage disposal systems and water supplies; Participates in epidemiological (epidemic disease) studies; Oversees and investigates complaints; and conducts educational programs and health surveys. DUTIES INCLUDE: Investigates complaints of unsanitary conditions in food facilities including insects, food poisoning, and poor hygiene; Writes orders and follows up to ensure health code compliance. Inspects restaurants and food establishments in assigned areas using food inspection form for evaluation. Consults on installation of septic systems and inspects them for correct installation, proper use of materials, and layout. Provides ongoing recommendations for proper pool / spa water chemistry to owners / operators. EVALUATION AND SELECTION FACTORS: Knowledge of: current health codes, laws, regulations, and guidelines; biological, physical, and chemical properties of food, soils, public-use waters, hazardous / solid wastes. Skill in: building and maintaining interpersonal relationships of trust to foster cooperation with public and owners; written and verbal communication. Ability to: make decisions and solve problems under pressure.
