Community Health Connect Internship

Community Health Connect (CHC) is a non-profit organization that works with low-income, uninsured individuals in Utah County and connects them with discounted or donated specialty medical and dental care. We are looking for an intern for our yearly dental varnishing campaign in local title I elementary schools.

Duties include partnering with other agencies to organize varnishings in 20 Title I elementary schools throughout Utah County, and may also include:

  • Improving client services
  • Planning events
  • Helping with the quarterly newsletter
  • Care coordination
  • Fundraising
  • Grant writing
  • Other duties as needed.

Community Health Connect is looking for someone ASAP in January but absolutely must have someone in office for the month of March. A flexible schedule is REQUIRED since the varnishings vary and are held many different days of the school week in the morning and/or afternoon.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a flexible schedule
  • Must be organized and good at problem-solving
  • Must be dependable
  • Interest in non-profit sector a plus
  • Must be passionate about eradicating health inequalities
  • Spanish language skills strongly preferred

Internship is un-paid but mileage reimbursement will be available. This is a great way to get your foot in the door with a local non-profit doing great stuff! We always give first priority to prior volunteers and interns when hiring for paid positions.

Save the date for the annual HEAU Spring Conference set for March 9, 2012 at Noah’s of South Jordan.  Join us for a full day of great presentations addressing our conference theme: *“HEAU with 2020 Vision- Focusing on the Future”*

We are currently building our conference agenda and are looking for exciting and knowledgeable presenters to address topics applicable to Health Education as we progress toward the year 2020. If you are interested in presenting during a 50 minute session, please read the following information about submitting an abstract. *The deadline for submissions is January 6, 2012

*Abstract Submission:*

The Health Education Association of Utah invites both professionals and students to submit an abstract for presentation at the 2012 Spring Conference. We are particularly interested in receiving breakout session presentations on topics that demonstrate application of knowledge,
skills and tools of the future or other areas that are of particular interest to HEAU students and professionals such as public health issues, collaboration strategies, program planning and research. Another important topic could be how the new National Prevention Strategy released this June will affect the future of our profession.(This is not a comprehensive list and all submissions will be carefully and fairly reviewed). Anyone with knowledge and experience in the health field is encouraged to submit an abstract for review.

Submission Deadline is January 6, 2012

*Theme:“HEAU with 2020 Vision- Focusing on the Future”

*Oral Presentations:*
- Professionals may submit an abstract to present during a 50 minute
session
- Students may submit an abstract to be one of  two-three oral presenters during a 50 minute session

*Abstract Criteria:*

·  Session Description – Two to four sentences to be used in marketing
materials to describe the session to participants.

 

Word Count – Abstracts may not exceed 300 words

·  Learning Objectives – Three or more learning objectives must be
listed.

*Abstracts will be reviewed using the following criteria:*

CIEE Study Abroad Programs

By studying abroad with CIEE, students can continue study in their major while living and learning in a global environment. Through cultural excursions, opportunity for host family stays, and a wide array of course offerings, students make the most of their experience both in and out of the classroom.   • Three weeks of public health and Spanish courses, followed by four weeks of public health field work placements; intensive Spanish courses focus on public health terminology
